Safety Management Cycle (SMC) is used by the FMCSA to help identify and address motor carrier safety compliance issues. They recently came out with guidelines containing six processes to assess. 1. Policies and Procedures 2. Roles and Responsibilities 3. Qualification and Hiring 4. Training and Communication 5. Monitoring and Tracking 6. Meaningful Action. The SMC can be used before breakdowns or after crashes to determine which Process to address.
